Foreign Military
Sales (FMS)
The FMS Directorate supports the government-to-government
procurement of goods and services from the United States. The Directorate
is part of the Defence Materiel Organisation at the Embassy of Australia,
and is responsible for managing the interface between the Government of
Australia (primarily DMO, but also other Defence and government agencies)
and the US Department of Defence (DoD). The Directorate is also
increasingly involved in contributing to the development of emerging
Defence materiel cooperative programs. Current FMS activity includes
support for operational requirements and most DMO SPOs, covering both
through-life support and capital acquisition.
